I wanted to go around the Est end of the Island... somehow I ended up in Repentigny!?
There is a bicycle path that goes around but...
SIGNS WOULD BE GOOD!
I still managed to do 94km... just saw allot more of the oil refineries than I would of liked.
- Departure 11:00
- Arrival 16:15
No coma or cramps to report...

Oh, man, I have to admire you taking the SC1800 on a road trip. I took mine on holiday this year and regretted it before I'd cycled a single click. I see you've gone through the usual list of SC1800 repairs, particularly the back wheel. Can't tell from your description what you did to the bottom bracket. I overhauled mine about five times before replacing it with a sealed cartridge. Finally replaced the back wheel, too, with a double-walled aluminum wheel with inset spoke eyelets, after about 10 spoke breaks on the OEM wheel and truing it every couple of hundred kilometers. Anyway, I've linked to your blog from mine (bikeofdoom.com) ... always interesting to see somebody riding Canadian Tire's cheapest bike!
I am however investing in a new bike for next year... (anything to recommend?) I will continue to use the Supercycle for the winter or until it has an inoperable disease.
Thanks for the comment.
I have three bikes I use with some regularity. The SC1800 is only for commuting. I also have a Giant Boulder mountain bike (hard tail, rigid fork), I use for rough trail rides. Most recreational and long distance rides I do on a Jamis Coda Sport... basically a flat handled road bike that is also really good for riding in the city. Most of the major bike brands have a flat handled city bike or metro (sometimes called Hybrids). I'd recommend one of those. Speicalized Sirus is nice, as is the Jamis Coda. I looked at a couple of De Vinci flat handled bikes earlier this year that looked really nice.
