Finaly went around the east end of the island of Montreal. I saw where I zigged instead of zagged when I ended up in Repentigny.
It took 87km to go around... no incidents to report. The bottom bracket (new biking lingo) is begining to become loose again. I will probably have to do same repair that Ridi Bobo did on his.

Well, an overhaul will be easy... just repack the bearings and tighten everything up. Replacing the cup and spindle bottom bracket with a sealed unit was the hardest repair I've done. Then again, I'm not exactly mechanically inclined... in fact, I'm pretty damned inept... so you may have an easier time of it than I did.
I have taken it apart twice already... greased it up with industrial heat resistant bearing grease (Great by the way... ). For some reason after about 100km it just gets loose... creates a little tick in the pedal. Just won't stay tightened. I do maintenance for a living so I have access to a shop and tools all I want.
That's handy. I had to construct one of Sheldon Brown's makeshift tools to remove the fixed cup. You might find a decent sealed cartridge Bottom Bracket on eBay. Or your local bike shop. That upgrade made a big difference... made the SC1800 feel like a more expensive bike. The Maple Leaf Test Rides blog identifies the Shimano component and specs that will work with the SC1800.
